Housing Justice at DuPage Habitat for Humanity
Habitat on the Hill Symposium: Family stories and lived experiences serve as qualitative data in city council meetings.
DuPage Habitat partnered with local affordable housing coalition to advance affordable housing production in Naperville, IL.
Through partnering with a local housing coalition and providing testimonies during open comment at the City of Naperville’s City Council Meeting, a long standing affordable housing incentive program that sat at a stalemate for almost 18 year, passed.
Opposition Research and Community Organizing
Through a seat by seat breakdown of who the city council is, their voting pattern, and political affiliation, Habitat was able to complete opposition research that served as the foundation for how our testimonies were written. Habitat also organized local partners, staff, and families to come and stand during public comment in support of the affordable housing incentive.
